Spotify Sound Search
about.
DUPPY Studio designed a physical device concept for Spotify that bridges spontaneous music discovery with personal curation. The product identifies unknown songs in real time and adds them directly to the user’s Spotify playlist.
Aimed at Premium users aged 13 to 35, it gives music lovers a tangible way to capture sound wherever they are, turning fleeting moments into lasting playlists.
challenge.
As a digital-first brand, Spotify’s world exists on screen. The challenge was to bring that identity into physical form without losing its clarity or purpose.
DUPPY Studio set out to design hardware that feels true to Spotify; recognisable, useful, and seamlessly connected to the app. The product needed to deliver value beyond existing features, sit naturally within Spotify’s ecosystem, and appeal even to users on other platforms.
It also had to look and feel like Spotify, aligning with the brand’s signature green, black, and white palette while remaining simple enough to buy directly through the app.
result.
The outcome is a portable, intuitive music-tagging device that turns sound into connection. With a single press, users can identify any song around them and add it straight to their “Discovery” playlist.
The device syncs with Spotify via Bluetooth and can be purchased directly through the app for a seamless experience. Compact and minimal, its form follows Spotify’s bold green, black, and white identity while remaining discreet and tactile.
The concept redefines music discovery as a physical gesture, creating a more personal and emotion-driven link between users and the sounds that move them.
